Costumes: Workers
I researched into the clothing that would've been worn by the workers in the factory. I looked at images of workers in factories similar to the Klinger. I needed to find images of factories and workers which used large machines or were involved in mechanical engineering to relate to the Klinger:
I found that clothing worn by a more 'mechanical' worker, has not changed much over time. The top image was taken recently in around 2001. The very bottom image was taken around the 1960s. Both images show that the workers are wearing similar clothing; simple top, thick, heavy blue pants/trousers. The middle image shows workers in a more 'physical job' using larger machinery and handling different materials. They are seen wearing blue overalls with hard helmets.
The workers in the Klinger factory would have been involved in more physical labour. They would have been using heavy machinery and moving/working with large and dangerous materials. The costume for the workers therefore should be overalls to show they were involved in dangerous and physical work.

The actors/ 'workers', shall wear a selection of blue and white overalls. The overalls can be 'weathered' with dirt to make them appear old and used and blood can be applied to show the violence of the 'mutated' workers. I photographed some of the overalls that shall be worn by the workers:

costume- labcoat
We chose to use Lab coats for the zombies as it reflects the theme of the contamination. It puts across that they were working on the virus strands and it went wrong.
To achieve the dirty blood stained lab-coat i first placed in in wet mud and walked on top of it so the mud could sink in, i also rubbed coal over the coat in order to create a dirt effect. I then covered the coat in black and red food dye to make the coat look like it is covered in blood. i left it to dry and this was the finishing results.

Victims Costume
Victims Costume
Our victims will be Urban Explorers, even though they are amatuer, they should be equipped for emergencies, so their costume should represent this. From research on these UE forums and blogs, it is accurate so say they are prepared. A photo on one of these blogs show this-
It depicts someone hiding their identity reinforcing the illegal nature of Urban Exploring.
This photo shows that the explorers are prepared, hence the backpack, so we will base our victims clothing loosely on this picture and hoodies, sturdy trousers and shoes.
The victim's shoes will be like hiking boots or trainers. This will be to protect their feet from glass and dangerous objects when walking around a dangerous site. The height of the boot adds protection to their ankle if they fall.
They will be wearing dark hoodies to detract attention from themselves in the building and when going to the building. It will also keep them warm from the drafty buildings which usually have smashed windows. Also the hoodie will mean they can hide their face from Police or security if they have gained illegal access to the building and have to run. It also acts as more protection if debris is falling.
Again, the jeans act as protection if the Urban Explorer has to climb any fences or crawl on the ground, which is quite likely. They are sturdy and cover the whole leg, they are also dark so also detract attention.
