Tag Line Ideas

Tag Lines

When considering ideas for our poster, we also noted we needed to come up with a tag line that would suit our genre and specifically our niche area in that genre. Some of the ideas we brainstormed were:

Possible Taglines-
-Something Never left
-It Will Find You
-They Will Find You
-Dont Go In
-They Can Smell Your Blood
-Something Wants To Say Hello
-They Will Trap You In
-They Wont Let You Leave
-Your Time Is Up
-If Your Lucky They Will Only Kill You
-They said it was an accident, they said everyone was evacuated, they lied....
-Would you go in?
- For the toughest explorers
- You don't know what you're getting into
-Klinging on for life
-They thought it was abandoned...it wasn't.        Our chosen tagline.

All of the tag lines we came up with create an enigma. We wanted to have a tag line that creates mystery so we chose to use words such as 'they' and 'it' so the villian is not identified. Some of the taglines relate directly to our horror genre by using words such as 'trap', 'blood' and "kill".

Actor and make up

Tom Emmans was our actor playing the 'infected' worker.
After changing into the overalls and labcoat, Millie applied the make up. The final results are seen below:

FIRST DAY FILMING

On Monday the 29th of October we went to the klinger Factory to start our filming. Once inside the factory we started to set up. Christina, Chloe and Jack scouted exactly what rooms we wanted to use and tested the lighting to make sure everything would go smoothly. They also filmed a few scenes of the characters interacting with eachother to show the relationships between the characters.

Whilst the other three were pinpointing locations and testing lighting I started on the make-up. I began by spreading black eyeliner across the face to make it look dirty and then I created the wounds and finished off by adding fake blood. Everything went smoothly except the wax on one wound fell off so i had to re-stick it down more firmly. We then dressed the actor in the lab coat and smeared some extra blood over it.

We then experimented with extra lighting as we came across a red flair which lit the whole room red. This lighting worked really well as it made the scene look more scary as we associate red with blood and danger. After this scene we taped a torch to the camera and filmed the scenes in the basement where it was pitch
black. We used extra torches where needed to add extra light.

Jack was incharge of most of the filming, however we did take in in turns to film scenes that we felt needed adjustments and all shared our ideas. After the basement scenes we filmed the scenes in the broad day light. These were mainly scenes showing the characters reactions to the strange happenings.

Overall the day went well, however one of our biggest mistakes was that we did not get enough footage. Some of the footage was not usable so we will have to go back and refilm some scenes.

Shutter Island Website Deconstruction

http://www.shutterisland.com/#/cast-filmmakers/cast -SHUTTER ISLAND • The theme of this website helps to promote the film as it is based around a prison and is dark cold colours to help show the horror with in this thriller drama. • It is very current as displays links to like the page on face book, follow on twitter etc. it keeps up with today’s technological convergence. • On the home page it shows a picture of Leonardo Dicaprio and has his name in bold letters to promote the film as he is a very famous actor. • It also has the trailer in the top right corner that automatically plays the trailer of the film to draw the audience in and give away a bit about the plot. • There is an order now section you can click that gives you a direct link to buy the dvd’s, this is good promotion as there isn’t any hassle in buying the film and as the order now button is underneath the trailer its good promotion as when the audience are watching the trailer they can click order now as they are engrossed into it without having to take their eyes off the trailer. • Simple website easy to navigate

Make-Up wounds

I experimented with make up to achieve the two effects on the left. Firstly I got black eye shadow and rubbed it in various patches over the face and neck to create a rotten dirty effect. I then smudged red blusher around the circles of the eyes to create a sore puffy effect. Next I molded the scar wax underneath the eyes leaving a slight gap to fill with blood. I then blended the scar wax in with foundation. After this was complete i put black mascara liquid in the gap I had left between the eye ans the wax, this darkened the blood that I was about to apply. I then applied the fake blood in generous amounts in order to create the dripping effect. I then applied the same principle to the wound on the head leaving a gap in the middle of the wax to apply the mascara and blood and I smudged the blood around the edge of it so it looks like a bullet wound. Finally i smothered the lips in foundation and waited for it to dry so they looked dry and cracked.

News Reporters Script

News Reporters Script

1.News just in! The Klinger Factory has been shut down. The Government are not revealing the incident which has caused the Factory to be sectioned off. No one is allowed in or out of the building. All civilians have been ordered to stay out of of the area and the residents of Sidcup have been issued with an immediate evacuation. (14.5 secs)

2.The Klinger Factory has been shut down. The Government are not revealing the incident which has caused the Factory to be sectioned off. No one is allowed in or out of the building, and local residents have been issued with an immediate evacuation. (11 secs)

3.There has been a serious incident in the Klinger factory today, causing the area to be sectioned off. Four workers have been reported missing. (6 secs)

We created three different versions of the script that were varying in length so if we use a certain one depending on the amount of time we had left in our trailer.
(The script was kept short and to the point as we do not have much time with in the trailer. It sums up the main point we want the audience to receive; that something has happened in the klinger factory and the government are not revealing what)

costume- labcoat

We chose to use Lab coats for the zombies as it reflects the theme of the contamination. It puts across that they were working on the virus strands and it went wrong.
To achieve the dirty blood stained lab-coat i first placed in in wet mud and walked on top of it so the mud could sink in, i also rubbed coal over the coat in order to create a dirt effect. I then covered the coat in black and red food dye to make the coat look like it is covered in blood. i left it to dry and this was the finishing results.

Make Up wound trial one

I bought a small pot of wax and fake blood in order to achieve an open wound effect. I first scraped out a small portion of wax and moulded it onto my hand. I scraped out a small circle of wax from the middle in order to create the effect that it was a deep wound. I then rubbed he edges of the wax into my hand so it blended in directly with the hand so it looked like real skin. To complete the real skin effect I blended foundation into the wound and hand to make sure it was all compleatly one colour. Next I dipped a small brush into a mascara pot and filled he whole in with the black liquid and waited for it to dry. This helped to portray the depth of the cut as when I finally painted the fake blood over the wound it made the blood that was in the wound look darer. I applied a generous ammount onto the wond so when I tilted the hand a trickle of blood wound run down to make it look as if the wound is bleeding heavily.
